About Me
Faith Anderson has been a dance educator for eight years. She is currently attending Skidmore College, pursuing a double major in dance and economics. Whilst at Skidmore she has danced for Hettie Barnhill, Chia-Ying Kao, and Brian Lawson, and learned choreography from A.I.M by Kyle Abraham. Faith began her teaching career and training at Starship Dance Theater. At Starship she has taught a wide range of classes from three-year-olds to adult ballet. She has received multiple grants from Skidmore College for educational and choreographic projects at Starship. These grants have related to choreographic and educational experiences centering around themes of dancing with limited mobility. Her own experience in education and research has shaped her choreographic vision, exploring the boundaries of societal norms and expectations. In addition to her passion for choreography, Faith has been the studio manager of Starship for four years, growing her arts management experience.
Faith is also an avid researcher, observing the cultural importance of dance in different societies as well as explaining trends in dance through an economic lens. Through her travels across Europe and parts of Asia, she has been exposed to unique dances and theories. One of Faith’s favorite research subjects has been looking at the cultural implications of the Khmer Rouge’s eradication of Apsara dance in Cambodia. As part of her degree in economics, Faith has been researching any gender wage differences in collegiate dance departments and hopes to continue researching dance funding with sport economics.
